About Animales

Animales is a beloved barbeque restaurant that doubles as a live music venue highlighting a mix of live acts, cultural programming, and gathering grounds for a strong local community. We're looking for a part-time Booker to help curate our calendar and further develop our roster of events.

Position Summary

The Music & Programming Booker is responsible for identifying, contacting, and scheduling community events, DJs, and bands to perform at Animales. This role balances relationship-building with logistics, ensuring a consistent, well-curated lineup that fits the venue's vibe and draws a crowd.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and reach out to bands, solo artists, and community programming organizers that fit Animales' sound and audience

  • Negotiate performance dates, guarantees/pay, and set times with artists, managers, and agents

  • Advance all bookings with bands and management, and collaborate with Animales GM to settle shows.

  • Maintain and manage the venue's event calendar, avoiding scheduling conflicts and balancing genres/draw across the month

  • Draft and send performance contracts or confirmations; track signed agreements

  • Coordinate with artists on technical needs, load-in times, and day-of logistics

  • Basic technical knowledge of the venue’s sound and lighting systems

  • Communicate with the marketing/promotions team to ensure shows are publicized accurately and with enough lead time

  • Build and maintain relationships with local bands, touring acts, agents, and managers

  • Monitor local and regional music scenes for emerging talent and touring opportunities

  • Track show performance (attendance, bar sales, artist draw) to inform future booking decisions

  • Handle day-of coordination or troubleshooting for booked shows and programming as needed

  • Provide band hospitality for all first-time acts. Optional but not essential for returning acts

  • In collaboration with the team, evolve our booking program from free, local acts toward higher-caliber ticketed shows presented monthly or quarterly. 

Qualifications

  • Prior experience booking talent, working in artist management, or in a live music/venue setting preferred

  • Strong network within the local/regional music and community events scene a plus

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple calendars, contracts, and conversations at once

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a nimble team and take direction to execute projects independently

  • Comfortable with basic contract and budget terms

  • Passion for live music and familiarity with a range of genres

  • Evening/weekend availability to attend shows

Schedule & Compensation

Part-time, approximately 12 hours/week at $30/hour. Flexible daytime hours for outreach and admin, with evening presence at shows and other evening programming, plus weekend availability for concerts and engagements.
