Cornbread Harris & Friends

No cover — 3:00pm Show

We’re honored to have Minnesota legend Cornbread Harris play at Animales. A true Twin Cities treasure, Cornbread brings nearly a century of blues, jazz, and rock ’n’ roll to the stage with unmatched warmth, humor, and soul.

Born James Samuel “Cornbread” Harris, Jr. in 1927, Cornbread Harris has been shaping Minnesota music for more than seven decades. He helped create the state’s first rock ’n’ roll record in the 1950s and went on to become a beloved fixture in local clubs, known for his joyful piano playing, sharp wit, and boundless generosity toward younger musicians.

Beyond his musical legacy, Cornbread is also the father of producer Jimmy Jam, linking two generations of Minnesota sound. Even in his nineties, he continues to perform across the Twin Cities, keeping the spirit of live music alive with every song and story he shares.
